Where to Install a Radiant Barrier
The most common place to install a radiant barrier is in the attic. Installing it on the underside of roof rafters helps block radiant heat from entering the home, significantly reducing cooling costs in hot climates and heating cost in cold climates, (Just like a thermos bottle).
Radiant barriers can be installed in garage roofs, walls and doors to prevent the space from overheating. This is especially useful in detached garages that can become excessively hot during the summer and keeps heat in during the winter months.
In cooler climates, a radiant barrier can be used to retain heat by installing it on basement walls or ceilings. This helps improve the energy efficiency of your home by reducing heat loss.
TempShield Reflective Insulation can be used to insulate air ducts, preventing heat from being absorbed by the ductwork in attics or crawl spaces. This improves your HVAC system’s efficiency while increasing the life of expensive equipment.
